Enrique Bernal presented at OECD´s Health Care Quality Indicators Expert Group (22-23 May 2014, Paris, France) the main messages from ECHO with impact on policy making derived from a number of statistics eliciting unwarranted and systematic variation.
The presentation first tackled the following items: uneven utilisation of effective procedures, uneven utilisation of low-value procedures, systematic variation in undesirable events after surgery. Then, it explained on the methodological issues behind the statistics.
